Make sure that equipment is protected and on person when travelling

1) Location Recce form
    - Scouting locations
    - Finding suitable areas for filming
2) Take photos as evidence that you have been to the location
    - To show that we have been to the locations
    - To get some evidence that it is suitable for filming and to remember what is in that location
3) Risk assessment
    - Hazards in the locations for filming

A recce form and risk assessment are important to have before filming so that we can see if the locations are suitable for the trailer that we want to film and get an
understanding of any hazards are in the locations.

A recce form is a form that a company will use to scout a location to see if it is suitable for filming. They assess things like noise, lighting, permissions needed for filming etc.
You should take photographs of the locations so that in future you can compare them to the other locations. The photographs will allow you to easily compare the two locations as they will help you to remember what each location looks like.

A risk assessment is a document filled in for each location that outlines any risks to the public, crew or equipment that are present at the different locations. The risk assessment will also state how you will prevent these risks from occurring.

  • Travel.
  • Actor sourcing.
  • Weather - protecting electrical equipment, trip hazards.
  • Making sure lighting is not near any flammable materials.
  • Location Recce Form needs to be complete before filming in that area (needs photo evidence that location has been visited) to see whether or not the area is appropriate to film in.
  • Risk assessments of different locations to figure out if any necessary equipment will be needed to counter any hazard.

Legal, Ethical, Scheduling and Certification

If it is right or wrong in the eyes of the law
If it is against somebody's beliefs (religion), age, gender etc.

Looking at the BBFC guidlines for a 15 rated film there are three main guidlines that we will have to adhere to when making our product. The first one will be the guidline on drugs. We will briefly show some use of drugs during our trailer as it is one of the themes of our film. Our trailer will not promote or encourage the use of recreational drugs and the drugs will not be shown for a long period of time. Furthermore the drugs that will be shown will not be easily obtainable for people in order to adhere to the guildines on showing the misuse of common substances. The second guildine that we will have to adhere to is language. We will adhere to this guidline by making sure that there is no use of very strong language. We will use some strong language but this will be farily infrequent as the trailer will not be that long. During our trailer there may be some imitable behaviour because of the 'fall from grace' theme of our trailer. If any imitable behavious is shown it will not focus on anything that could be copied. There may be some sexual content however, to adhere to the guidlines, there will be no strong detail on the content. There will be some threat in the trailer, but there will be no sadistic or sexual threat shown in the trailer to make sure that it adheres to the BBFC guidlines. The final guideline that we will have to adhere to is the violence guidline. We will adhere to this by not focusing on the infliction of  pain and most of the images will not be that gory. There will be no depiction of sexual violence in the trailer.

It is important to follow these regulations and guildines as if we didn't out content may be edited or censored and may not be shown in certain areas.

Watershed is the time of day before which sexual content, explicit violence and extreme profanities can not be shown. This is so that the younger children, for which this content would be unsuitable, will not be watching when it is broadcast. Based on the age certificate of our film trailer it would only be shown after the watershed as there will be content throughout the trailer that may be unsuitable to a yonger audience.

If we use any copyrighted music we will have to contact the producer of the music in order to get permission to use it. However this should not be a problem as they should allow us to use their music as we are not using it to make a profit.

To adhere to the Copyright Design and patents Act of 1988 we will have to get permission from anybody that is in the trailer. To do this we will get them to fill in a release and consent form.
